What about brain engineering? If there is an optimal brain state of happiness than why can't we engineer our brain in such a way that it is always in that state? I understand that such a state is not natural and hence the natural processes in the brain will destabilize such a state. To prevent that, the brain can have a self-destruct button inserted in it, which will be activated once the state of optimum happiness becomes unfeasible.

We have to find the answer to a very basic question - will a person who has been described to be optimally happy, strive to be happier?
